CSP Acoustics provided guidance to achieve appropriate acoustic design standards in relation to noise control and roomacoustics for the facilities for the new-build Lochside Academy (South of the City), Aberdeen.
Acoustic design guidance has been integrated into the overall project proposals, taking into account the recommendations for appropriate room acoustics and environmental noise control in schools in Building Bulletin 93 Acoustic Design of Schools: Performance Standards as balanced with other design and environmental target requirements and budgetary constraints.
This school development brought about interesting challenges; this included a number of room layout changes to the end client’s preference after the initial design layout; requiring a detailed review of updated drawings and revisions to sound insulation assessment calculations. In addition, a relatively thin floor construction resulted in shortfalls from required sound insulation performance in high performance areas; CSP Acoustics LLP was able to provide effective enhancement solutions
