Michael Richardson

Acoustic Technician

Michael Richardson joined CSP Acoustics in October 2016. Michael is qualified in Sound Engineering, specialising in environmental acoustics, building acoustics and noise control and is a Technician member of the Institute of Acoustics. Immediately before joining CSP Acoustics, Michael worked for Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors (FCBC); a joint venture consisting of Morrison Construction, American Bridge, Dragados and Hochtief, on the new construction of the Queensferry Crossing. Michael’s scope of works during the project included:

  • Responsibility for the 16 sound level meters and 10 vibration monitors on site; creating monthly reports on noise and vibration levels at all monitoring locations for presentation on the Transport Scotland website
  • Downloading data and monitoring for any construction noise exceeding the criteria set in the Forth Crossing Act 2011
  • Implementing measures to mitigate future problems
  • Meeting the local authority’s monthly acoustic and vibration performance targets
  • Dealing with complaints and reporting on outcomes
  • Carrying out noise surveys of new plant and night-time works to maintain compliance with regulations
