ain attained a bachelor’s degree in Rural Environmental Protection in 1998 from Harper Adams University. Iain was an industrial regulator with the Environment Agency for 13 years as a noise specialist, providing enforcement advice and regulatory support for the Pollution Prevention Control team at both area and national level.
Iain specialises in environmental noise and vibration assessments, with experience in environmental noise monitoring, acoustic consultancy and noise impact assessments gained over 10 years in the consultancy industry. He also specialises across the industrial, commercial, residential, transportation, energy and waste sectors in the measurement and assessment of noise for a wide range of planning applications, including those requiring an EIA. Iain has significant project management experience and working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
Iain has significant experience of leading on noise and vibration impact studies for mixed use projects across the UK. Examples include Strawberry Place, Newcastle (EIA: Stadia noise, road traffic noise); St. Michael’s, Manchester City Centre (EIA: Entertainment noise, outdoor events, residential/commercial uses); Interchange Park, Stockport (light rail and road transport studies, residential/commercial uses); West Bar, Sheffield (EIA: transport studies, residential/commercial uses, car parking noise).
Iain returns to CSP Acoustics in 2023, following spells with a leading multi-national, multi-disciplinary practice and a national company involved in noise, dust and vibration services to the mineral extraction, waste, construction, and demolition industries.
