Our Approach

CSP Acoustics has been involved in a number of large extraction and processing projects – where plant, extraction and traffic noise levels had to be predicted and noise impacts assessed for a large number of potentially affected noise sensitive locations. Working with clients and designers from the very earliest stages of development can prove highly effective in ensuring that mitigation of noise impacts is taken into account throughout the development process. Equally, where such projects require Environmental Statements and /  or representation at Public Inquiry, CSPA is well positioned to provide the necessary services.

Services we can provide as part of the Minerals Extraction & Mining sector include...

Noise Impact Assessments

Negotiation with Local Authorities will be required to establish criteria for noise Impact Assessments, especially now that PAN 1/2011 gives each Local Authority the ability to set down its own criteria and standards. Extraction projects will only be approved if it can be shown that complaints and significant loss of amenity are unlikely to arise at nearby residential and other noise sensitive properties. CSPA acoustics has extensive experience of working with developers, design teams and local authorities to help optimise designs and secure planning permissions. Experience of preparing these assessments is exemplified on our Environment and Noise page as well as our Noise and Nuisance page.

Noise & Nuisance

Noise associated with extraction projects can be a significant issue and will usually require a Modelling and Mapping capability so that Local Authorities can have confidence in noise impact assessments, particularly where topography and nearby structures can make predictions complex. Our page on Noise and Nuisance as well as that on Environment and Noise services both provide further useful information.

Planning & Building Control Applications Support

Planning requirements can be critical to development viability either in relation to gaining the Planning Approval, in compliance with Planning Conditions within an existing Planning Approval, or in challenging a Local Authority decision by Appeal. CSPA can provide a range of services to assist with these objectives as outlined on our Planning & Building Control Applications Support page.

Can you afford the cost of failure?
ADOPT A TEST RISK MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

Simple care and monitoring throughout a project can significantly reduce the chance of test failures later on. Our Test Risk Management Strategy works from project inception through to completion and testing, and helps client and team minimise the risks and consequences of test failure.
